It may look like a little made-up story…but what you are about to read will blow your mind.

A person living in Longmont, Colorado, retired at age 30 along with his wife.

Peter Adeney [famously known as Mr Money Mustache] retired at an age, where most people party every night, buy things recklessly and spend like there’s no tomorrow.

“Oh…he must have turned into the world’s biggest miser.”

“While his friends were taking a day off work, Peter must have been slogging his ass off.”

“Not everyone can afford to live a minimalist lifestyle like Peter. If you don’t enjoy it, what’s the point of earning?”

Mr Money Mustache, the ‘culprit’, answers the question himself during the Forbes interview.

“We generally did the same things as our friends — hosting parties, camping and mountain bike rides, snowboarding, and working a lot. The difference was mainly in hidden wastes — I would keep my older car instead of upgrading to a new one bought on credit. Maybe light up the fireplace at home on Friday night and pour some wine rather than going downtown for expensive drinks. Cut my own lawn instead of hiring a service company. Things like that can easily chop your spending in half.”

Get the point?

To save money, you don’t need to become a miser or cut down on necessary expenses.

In fact, even without cutting down on your spending right now, you can save enough money.

How? Keep reading.

In today’s article, I’ll give you 3 stupid-yet-highly-effective money-saving hacks.

Adopt the ‘120 hour’ rule

Ever got trapped into impulsive buying? Impulsive buying happens when you go on Amazon to buy X item but end up buying Y item that you didn’t even need. It happens at the spur of the moment.

To trigger your emotions, Amazon has designed “Customers who viewed this item also viewed” or “Products related to this item” sections. These sections trigger specific emotions or feelings that “make” you spend on unnecessary products.

To avoid such hasty buying decisions, next time when it happens, add the product to the shopping cart but don’t buy it instantly. Let it stay there for 5 days [120 hours].

After 5 days, if you still need the product, well, go ahead and buy it.

However, 98.98% of the time…your temporary excitement will be killed and you won’t even need the product anymore.

Track ‘unnecessary’ monthly credit card subscriptions

  • Hotstar subscription because the T-20 world cup is coming? Done.
  • Amazon Prime subscription because Mirzapur 3 is coming? Done.
  • Netflix subscription because Money Heist Season 5 has launched? Done.
  • Tinder subscription because you want to go on a new date this month? Done.

How many times do you take 100s of subscriptions for a month or so…but forget to deactivate the auto-renew facility once the requirement ends?

Remember…you may forget your responsibility but the subscription provider or platform doesn’t forget its duty…it auto-debits your credit card every month without fail.

Stop right there for a moment, open your last month’s credit card statement, and check the number of availed subscriptions.

Now ask yourself — how many of these do you really need? When was the last time you opened a particular paid app or platform?

Track your credit card bills every month, find out if you are paying for subscriptions that you don’t use anymore, deactivate them, and save money.

A great money-saving hack, right?

Make GrabOn & CouponRaja your best friends

What if you could save up to INR 2,100 on the water heater you just bought?

Or maybe INR 600 on the latest black synthetic loafers you bought for your boyfriend, son, or brother?

It’s easy…simple…doable…FREE…a 2-minute-Maggi kinda thing [although I can place a bet of $1000 that you’ll get a discount quicker than you’ll be able to cook maggi].

How?

A simple Google search.

“Amazon Promo Codes Today”

Ok…I don’t guarantee that you’ll find valid discount codes everywhere or every time.

But at least you can spend 5 minutes checking and verifying a suitable discount code.

GrabOn, CouponIndia, CouponRaja, etc. provide discount coupons every day…not just for Amazon but for almost every shopping website and platform.

Even while booking cabs or movie tickets, you can grab discount codes by doing a simple Google search and save anywhere between 5–95%.

That’s it.

3 super-simple, money-saving hacks that you can implement this very moment while reading the article and save hundreds…or, even, thousands of rupees.

Remember, money-saving is a habit that can be developed easily…if you do the basic things right, every day, for several months.

Enough of me speaking.

It’s time for you to keep your promise…spread these 3 hacks among your friends and relatives and give them the most valuable tips of their lifetime.

Go ahead, share the article, and spread awareness.

I’ll see you next time :)
